Reiki is a complementary healing modality used to help support the body’s own ability to heal by clearing the energy centers, (chakras) providing deep relaxation, and reducing stress and anxiety, among many other benefits. The Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit to the universal energy field, allowing Reiki energy to flow through for the benefit of the recipient. Reiki is only ever positive and healing, and will go where it is most needed. You don’t have to believe in Reiki for it to work for you. You simply have to be open to the possibility of receiving its benefits.
I didn’t realize until I had formal training that I have been practicing Reiki for myself long before I became certified. I have had a fascination with, and belief in, alternative healing modalities since I was in college. Although my more traditional career choices were in Design and Development, I continued learning with different teachers and mentors about principles of energetic and emotional healing my whole life. I know each of us embodies the very great ability to assist ourselves in our individual healing needs, whether it is calming ourselves in one moment or facing a difficult health challenge. Reiki helps connect our divine and powerful ability to support our overall well being.
In formally studying and practicing Reiki, I am delighted to have come full circle back to the “invisible” and mystical studies that so enthralled me and lit my passion back in college. Modern science has allowed us to measure these “invisible” elements such as energy and emotions experienced in and around the human body in ways the skeptical mind can grasp and accept what some people have known or believed in for millennia.
Reiki comes easily to me, lights my spirit up, and fills me with gratitude and purpose. I feel this is the work I am meant to do, and I am honored to join a league of energy workers in the world. The benefits of a Reiki session are numerous and stretch beyond the one hour session. Clients can learn more about themselves through the healing that comes from each Reiki experience.
Over the past couple of decades I have combined ancient teachings as well as modern Healing Art Leaders’ philosophies to assist my own healing journey, and bring this knowledge and wisdom to my energy practice. My offerings come from a desire to share what I have learned, as well as from a place of universal love and the desire to be of service to myself, my community, and ultimately, the planet.
NIKI KORDUS, REIKI MASTER PRACTITIONER
People ask me, “So how long have you been doing Reiki?”
The short answer is I have been studying and practicing the art of Reiki for the last three years with focus and intention. This work has brought me “home” to a path that feels more aligned with my journey on the planet, and I am proud to say I am now a certified and licensed Reiki Master Practitioner.
The longer answer is, I’ve been “doing” some form of Reiki since I was a young adult. I have always felt great love and joy through working and being with groups of people throughout my life. I used to say I received “vibes” of a person or situation that helped me energetically navigate a task or project.
As a Graphic Designer, creating art, logos and promotional business products for clients was easy – I would get a feeling of what they were looking for and sometimes even “see” pictures of what to create for them, with great success. I considered this intuition, but now know it was more than that. As a Development Director for a professional theatre, my love for people melded with shared love of an art form, making it easy to connect joy and appreciation, and to know when to ask for support.
